Skylar is Pretty In Pink

All the girls (with the exception of Kara because she was shipping out soon) added pink streaks to their hair for Valentine's day. Skye's hair turned out really cute on her and she loved it, even though she isn't a fan of pink at all. These are some pics I captured of her before she headed off to school on Feb. 15th.
Pretty much everything on this layout is Prima with the exception of the cardstock, butterflies (Stampin' Up!), Glimmer Mist, chipboard alpha which I painted and heat embossed (doodlebug) and alpha stickers. I used a Prima sketch as a base.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend. I am working, as usual; 12-8:30 today (icky shift) and then Sunday and Monday from 9-5PM. It's Spring Break for the kiddos and although Ashlyn wasn't scheduled for another week, we took this week off as well. Looking forward to only working and not having to do school for a week. I am tired and this is a much needed break. :)

Kara on my mind

It is so hard to have a child away at boot camp. I feel so incomplete. Sad. Lonely. Stressed. Worried. Helpless. I find myself blinking back tears over the silliest little things. Our family feels broken somehow, even though it's not... we are just missing links. This is her "hell week" and I can do nothing but pray that she is faring well. I have come to treasure Wednesdays when there is a letter from her in the mail. I cry tears of joy and sadness before I even open the letter and then I savor it, rereading it over and over until I have it memorized. I carry them in my purse when I am not home, and at home they follow me from room to room. All I have of my baby girl are these cherished words. I feel like I am crazy for doing this, but I suppose it's my way of coping. I feel inadequate as I haven't had time to sit down and write her a letter in over a week. I have sent a few cards with encouragement, but nothing substantial. I have been so busy with work and schooling that I have hardly had time to breathe... and when I do have time I want to be in the moment, not in sadness, but doing something to clear my mind and be creative. I know she's safe and in good hands. I also know that she is lonely and not having a good time. I know she treasures my words, as I do hers. I just hope she understands as I do when she writes just a little. She's in my heart and on my mind 24/7 and that has to be enough sometimes.

Wow... I didn't intend to write all that, but it just poured out, so I will leave it. ;)

Here is a card I made for her last week. She had bronchitis and was feeling even more down due to the fact that she was confined to quarters for 3 days. I hope her spirits were lifted when she received this. I used some SRM Stickers for the sentiments: Sticker Sentiments- Thinking of You 51006.  These just made it so easy to create a perfect card for any occasion. The papers are Scenic Route, the butterflies are Stampin' Up!, and the bling is Kaiser Craft. I used a premade card, but I am not sure of the MF.

I have been wanting to make a layout of these pics, but all I could ever manage was to push them around. I finally committed and just went with it. I had to get it done because it was starting to haunt my creativity. lol  My intention was for it to be light and airy, and it turned out a bit 'heavier" than I wanted, but I like it overall. After many paper choices I decided to use these fun and pretty papers and chipboard from Fancy Pants Designs (which I hoard and needed to dig into).

Well, that's it for tonight. It's been a long week and I am ready for some downtime. Maybe I'll write Kara a letter tonight. :)

cards featuring SRM Stickers

I have really been slacking at posting lately. I have the intention to do it, but it just keeps getting pushed back to the back burner. *sigh* I need to make it a point to post more often.
I will be sharing several cards featuring SRM Stickers here over the next few posts. Today's cards were pretty simple to make. I used some pre-made cards frm K&Co. Amy Butler that I have had in my stash for awhile now and then added some of the fabulous SRM Stickers to them. These were very simple and quick to make. Seems to be my thing lately. lol I used the SRM Sticker Sentiments- Thank you #51005 sheet for each of these cards. The sheets have such a wide variety of fonts and are perfect for any card or project!

Please excuse the wonky placement of these photos.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a fantastic day! :) The sun is shining here and although I will not make it outside much today it sure brightens my spirit. I plan to open the windows and let some of that warm air in. Maybe I'll bbq something for dinner tonight since I am off work.

March E.A.D Blog Hop day!

Hello! The theme for our blog hop this month is Friends. When I picked out my vinyl for this theme, I didn't exactly have a project in mind, but I knew it would involve at least some of the girls. This photo of all 5 of our girls together is probably the last one I will have of all of them together for a long time and it works perfectly for the theme this month. It was taken minutes before we took Kara to the hotel, the afternoon before she left for boot camp. Their last photo together before the tears broke out. We are blessed... the girls truly do all share a close bond. In fact, that was one of Kara's biggest hesitations for leaving home. Looking at this photo floods me with an array of emotions, but I cherish it and I am sure this photo is sure to bring me much comfort in the years to come. One can never be prepared for the emotional roller coaster of life.

I used a glass block vinyl piece for this frame; Our Roots Say We're Sisters (I cut out the tree which I will use for a future project ;)).  The frame was purchased at Fred Meyer and the papers and stickers are from the gorgeous new Prima collections. They are truly stunning! I pretty much bought all the new Prima papers, so I am sure you will be seeing plenty from me in the near future.

This month instead of giving a $10 gift certificate to the store, Emily is offering up this fantastic vinyl set for the lucky blog hop winner! It's the darling Bird Cage Set...you can see the fun details  here.

'A Star Is Born' baby card- SRM Stickers

hello! It's time to share my first official DT project for SRM Stickers. The theme this month is babies, and I created a simple baby card for my project. I really like how these stickers just melt into the paper!

supplies:
SRM Stickers: Sticker Sentiments- Baby #51002
cardstock card: DeJa Views
pp: Scenic Route
chipboard: Scenic Route
pen: American Crafts Slick Writer
button and DMC floss

I haven't done much scrapping lately. I miss my girl and my mojo hasn't been flowing. I did sit down yesterday and create several cards for some upcoming assignments for SRM Stcikers. It felt good to play. I hope to get to a layout today, but I can't seem to find the pics I want to scrap. My mind has been preoccupied and I can't seem to keep track of anything. lol Maybe I'll get a letter from Kara this week... that would really make me feel good and give me some peace of mind. :)

owl love you forever banner- E.A.D Designs

This banner is by far the most favorite banner I've ever made! I just adore these totally adorable vinyl Silly Owl rub-ons from E.A.D Designs!!! I am probably going to have to buy several more sets so I can make a banner for each of the girls. ;)
I also used the beautiful Cupid papers and die cuts from Pink Paislee. LOVE the colors in this collection.... I seem to be drawn to this color combo. I also tried making some of the flowers I have been seeing so much of lately. I really thought they would be more difficult, I was pleasantly surprised.

Thanks again for all your continued support. We received Kara's address on Saturday so now we can write her and send her encouragement. One week down, 7 to go!
